Reflexzonenmassage

Reflexology is a holistic massage technique based on the belief that specific zones on the feet, hands, or ears are connected to organs and body systems.

The term

What does Reflexzonenmassage mean?

Reflexology is a holistic massage technique based on the belief that specific zones on the feet, hands, or ears are connected to organs and body systems. By applying targeted pressure to these reflex points, blockages can be released, and the body's own regulatory processes activated.

The most well-known form is foot reflexology, where pressure applied to specific points on the sole of the foot is believed to have a positive effect on various organs and systems. This method is used for relaxation and as a complementary treatment for conditions such as headaches, digestive issues, or muscle tension.

Reflexology can help improve circulation, balance the body's energy flow, and enhance overall well-being. It is commonly used in naturopathy and wellness treatments.

Questions & answers

Häufige Fragen

How does foot reflexology differ from an ordinary foot massage?

An ordinary foot massage works on the feet themselves with strokes and kneading. Reflexology additionally follows maps that associate areas of the feet with organs or other body regions. These associations belong to the reflexology model and are not established anatomical connections.

Does a painful reflex point indicate disease in the associated organ?

No. Tenderness at a point on the foot cannot reliably diagnose an organ condition. Sensitive spots can have different local causes. Reflexology should therefore not be treated as a way to diagnose internal disease or replace its medical treatment.
